About Us

We believe...

Every child is a champion and that participating in swimming should be challenging and progressive, but never at the expense of fun or a child’s self-worth.

We recognize...

Each child is unique and that each child learns in his or her own way. We understand that each success, great and small, is important.

We believe...

That swimming should serve as a springboard for lifelong health and fitness, as well as an enduring source of validation and pride.

Learn About Our Founder...

School of Swimming began in the early 1980’s, started by Janet Zeal, a native of Canada, but with the internal workings of a Floridian!  Originally, she was an RN working first in pediatrics, secondly in adult Surgical ICU/post-recovery. A move to Florida in the mid-1970’s with her husband and infant son brought them to an unfamiliar climate and unprecedented access to water.

It didn’t take long to realize the importance of knowing how to be safer around water, thus her son was immediately enrolled in a mom and tot swim class and by age 2, he was a fairly competent swimmer knowing the mechanics of swimming and floating.

Unable to return at the time to clinical nursing, Janet focused her energies towards water safety. Her company was born in 1980. Her mission became one of teaching the magic of swimming for safety, health, confidence, and fun! It’s a skill that lasts a lifetime……

Janet wants everybody to feel part of her family by spreading the love in the pool and partnering with parents in teaching swimming and water safety skills.  In understanding that children have tender souls, the instructors work hard understanding and caring for each individual child, meeting their unique needs, and building a foundation of confidence, trust, and skill.  The goal is to utilize all and every resource to gently and carefully create a path to learning to swim for each and every child.
